CELEBRATE Summer, the time of ripening, & the year's longest day -- with AOLC in Chicago!

Join us for our 2nd annual Solstice celebration, when the Sun seems to pause at its farthest point north before heading back south, one of the earth cycles we share.
In spring, our senses move outward as the Earth opens to the light & new generations of living things. In the fullness of summer growing, we also pause to enjoy the expansion & ripening.

See the Celebration flyer HERE.

1-5PM: An afternoon of activities! In the garden: weeding & seeding, worm wrangling, herb & plant walk, check out the hives, make a labyrinth in the grass. In the kitchen: bake with Industrial Harvest's Sarah Kavage, cook seasonal recipes (practice your pilafs!), make simple cheese, bottle honey. Other activities: potato prints & crafts ~ learn about biodynamics, recycling, green cleaning products, rainbarrels, fruit crops ~ & more!

5-6PM: Walk the ephemeral Labyrinth & reflect on life's cycles.

6PM-dusk: Local, seasonal potluck meal (as best we all can.) Bring food or (non-alcoholic) drink to share -- if not local or seasonal, just bring it and welcome! Musical instruments & voices welcome, too. Fire spinners? We hope so!

If you have an idea or activity you would like to add to the schedule, please email Erin McMillan at volunteer.chicago@learngrowconnect.org.

We have some outdoor cover for inclement weather. If it rains hard, we'll go inside -- lots to do & enjoy regardless!

RSVP by emailing us
or calling 773.288.5462.

This event is FREE -- do bring a dish or beverage to share. Naturally, other donations are WELCOME!
