Farmer Training Events
Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin Sustainable Farming Training Program
As part of admittance into the Stateline Farm Beginnings® program, participants also become CRAFT members. Thus, participants have free access to 10 – 12 on-farm Field Days on specific production topics. Topics range from rotational grazing to small fruit production, soil fertility to marketing goats milk soap, scaling up machinery to urban farming, and many others. These field days are usually scheduled from April – October on CRAFT member farms, and are approximately 3 hours in length. In addition, the Stateline Farm Beginnings facilitator assists each participant in identifying and prioritizing their “learning goals” for the growing season. Therefore, there may be other regional resources or opportunities that participants choose to take part in, in addition to the CRAFT field days.
"We wouldn't be farming today if not for training events offered through CRAFT. Between the informative farm field days, invaluable training workshops and welcoming community of farmer-mentors, CRAFT has helped make our beginnings in sustainable vegetable farming possible. We appreciate that the organization continues to actively adapt to the needs of its member farms. We're so thankful to be part of this network."
