Michael Pollan, AOLC Featured at Chicago Community Trust's 98th Anniversary Gala

By Dominic Green, AOLC Boardmember

I was privileged to represent AOLC at the 98th Anniversary Celebration of the Chicago Community Trust at the Harris Theatre on Tuesday evening. For those who don't know, CCT connects donors to Chicago community needs, granting more than $150M to nonprofits in 2012. AOLC has been a grant recipient for many years now.

CCT helps literally hundreds of organizations, so it was a nice honor for AOLC to be highlighted on the evening in the "Food & Health" section. Host Bill Curtis gave a clear, succinct introduction to our work, followed by our inclusion in a video/picture montage. And thanks to our place in the alphabet, we were first up, and had a good half-page description & photo in the program!

The evening included an interview with journalist & author Michael Pollan, and was well attended. The stories shared by some of the many CCT grant beneficiaries were moving and inspiring, none more so than our very own Angelic Organics Learning Center.

In addition to being on the Board for Angelic Organics Learning Center, Dominic Green runs The Gentleman Farmer, a CSA in Barrington, IL.
