COVID-19 Information
In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, Angelic Organics Learning Center is implementing emergency staffing policies, site coverage protocol and strict disinfecting procedures at all facilities. While we reside in Boone County, we will enforce the Winnebago County Health Department recommendations to cancel public events with more than 25 participants until a formal directive from Boone County Health Department is received. Staff and participant safety is our highest priority during this challenging time. Please know all scheduled programs are being individually evaluated and we will be in touch with registered participants very soon.

Each week our Stateline Farm Beginnings® (SFB) class is fortunate enough to have guest speakers come and discuss their farming experience, first-hand. During the third session of SFB, on November 9th, the course topic was land access. We had several farmers come and give detailed accounts of how their farms’ each gained access to land. One of the farmer speakers, Chris Prchal of Trogg’s Hollow in Poplar Grove, Illinois provided the class with transparent and honest information which I and several others in class appreciated.

In Elkhorn Wisconsin, Tim Huth’s farm, LotFotL (Living Off The Fat Of The Land) Community Farm, is wrapping up its 11th year of production. LotFotL raises organically-fed and pastured hogs, grows organic vegetables and row crops plus obtains and distributes many different natural and organic foodstuffs. Karolina Kowalczyk grew up in a small town in Poland where most people around her “farmed, kept livestock, and were self-sufficient,” which created a sense of community. It was this environment that gave her a love of growing food to share with other people. Karolina began her farm dream by taking Angelic Organics Learning Center’s yearlong farm business planning course, Stateline Farm Beginnings (SFB). She graduates from the program next month and has been working hard to make her farm dream a reality —  working nearly fourteen hours a day, seven days a week.

Still on a high from our wonderful experience at Angelic Organics Learning Center! We couldn't have wished for a more comprehensive, informative, exciting, loving, and joyful journey. National CSA Day is February 23, 2018. Community Supported Agriculture shares, or CSAs, are just that. You, the community member, buys a share of agricultural product. When you buy early in the year, it helps the farmer (or fisherman) invest in the production season. Thus, discounts that encourage sign-ups are plentiful this time of year!

The relationships of farmers and eaters in our local sustainable agriculture economy often starts on and/or is nurtured on the internet. The FCC is voting Dec. 14th on its proposal to repeal “net neutrality” and we are deeply concerned it will cause harm to hundreds of farmers and thousands of eaters we serve.
