On-Farm

In the wake of so many natural disasters in this country and beyond, we can see why volunteering matters. It’s not about the hours, it’s not about the optics, it’s about the community and helping people in need.

Angelic Organics Lodge is currently under renovation with plans to open in July of 2017. The Lodge will offer overnight farm stays that immerse your head, heart and hands in the rhythms of our organic & biodynamic farm!

“Farms are the places where we negotiate our relationship with nature,” explained Tom Spaulding, the Learning Center’s co-founder and Executive Director at the Midwestern Ecology Symposium at the Janesville Muslim Dawa Circle this last week. Tom accompanied other distinguished speakers at the symposium, including his wife and Learning Center co-founder, Dr. Neddy Astudillo. Tom addressed the topic of Biodynamic farming at the symposium.

Biodynamic agriculture found its genesis in a series of agriculture lectures by the Austrian spiritual scientist Rudolf Steiner, who also founded Waldorf education. The lectures were addressing...

Our Bee Friends are declining and need some champions. Honey bee populations are challenged like never before with a multitude of stressors. We need to support the honey bee and other wild bee populations with a more hospitable habitat - and more beekeepers! Angelic Organics Learning Center offers an Introduction to Beekeeping workshop (January 28th) each winter as a means of preparing new beekeepers for spring. Don’t think you have what it takes to keep a beehive? It might be more simple than you think...

Earth Day 2016 is officially recognized on April 22, but we're celebrating with one solid month of growing workshops for all ages! Angelic Organics Learning Center is located on Angelic Organics farm – one of the largest and oldest biodynamic, community supported agriculture (CSA) farms in the country! We sit on 186 acres of majestic land, roughly 90 miles from Chicago, 75 miles from Milwaukee, 60 miles from Madison, 35 miles from Lake Geneva, 20 miles from Rockford and 10 miles from Beloit. All workshops occur at 1547 Rockton Rd., Caledonia, IL 61011. ...

As we begin 2016, some of our valued staff members and friends have moved on to new ventures. Others remain a part of our team, but have assumed new roles. We’d like our friends and partners to know about these changes at Angelic Organics Learning Center.

Liz Whitehurst (our On-farm Program Director) and Spencer Ellsworth (our Urban Farm Manager in Rockford) moved back to the Washington, DC area to start Owl’s Nest Farm, a cooperative CSA farm. They’re sad to leave the farm community at AOLC, but excited about this new adventure. Check out...

farm tour

Today's blog post was written by Diana Zak, who visited the farm this October. Thanks to Diana for telling her story!

I wanted to reach out and say how much my husband and I enjoyed the tour you gave to our SUST230 Food class from Roosevelt University. Both of us think the farm is simply wonderful and inspiring, so much so that we purchased a 1/2 CSA for next year and are entertaining attending the Valentine's Day dinner.

Unseasonably high temperatures have made for lovely weather. You may also see bees, which unbeknownst to many, can stay alive year-round. Program Director, Deb Crockett, wrote this delightful & informative post about how to approach a feral bee colony, should you encounter one...

Our first Weekend Wellness Retreat had a positive impact on both the attendees and the leaders. Read two of their stories....

We are sad to report that our beloved draft horse Babe passed away this past weekend on Farmer John's birthday. She was surrounded by people who loved her and the farm that sustained her. At 32 years, she was ancient by horse standards.
